How to make a dollhouse miniature Kitchen Counter with paper

How do you choose a kitchen countertop?

That was the first question when I decided to make a doll house kitchen set.

It sets an overall tone of the kitchen design and there are so many types to choose from.

This week I am sharing with you a big piece to add to the doll house kitchen set printables – a miniature kitchen counter template!

[Choosing the design]

In terms of the look and feel, deciding on the interior of a doll house is not all that different to the real houses.

What’s good about miniatures is that you can change it much more easily if you don’t like it, and it isn’t bank breaking to do so.
With paper it is even easier.

Here are some of the choices I found for a (real) kitchen countertop:
– Natural stones: Quartz, Marble, Granite.
There is a wide range of choices and they are used in so many types of kitchens from country style, mountain, mediterranean to modern.
– Solid surface: any colour is possible
– Wood: gives a warm look, great as a focal point

I wanted to give the kitchen a warm, cosy, airy look so I decided to go with light coloured wood this time.
I have also used a popular rattan look to the cupboard door.
Apparently the interior trend using natural materials is continuing this year.

I don’t follow interior trends in real life as I think it isn’t ideal for the environment, but with paper miniatures we don’t have to worry about that – you can enjoy whatever trends and designs you like to your heart’s content.

[DIY Doll house kitchen set]

In the previous weeks, I shared with you some miniature kitchen printable pieces to make a doll house miniatures kitchen in 1:12th scale and 1:6th scale.

If you haven’t checked them out yet, here are the links to the printable templates:
– Dollhouse miniature fridge
– Miniature microwave
– Miniature cutting boards and paper towel
– Miniature cereal boxes
– Miniature newspaper
– Miniature bread loaf and miniature jam

I will have more items to share in the coming weeks to make the paper doll house kitchen set to be complete in 1:12th scale – That’s if any house creation / renovation ever completes itself whether it’s miniature or not, if you are as obsessed as I am!

1:12th scale pieces can fit into a mini paper suitcase like the one I am using in the photo below. I got my little suitcase here.

If you would like to have a doll, any 1 12th scale doll should go well with it.

  2. Make a little cut for the cupboard door tab to be inserted, if you want the door to “close”.
  3. Fold and glue the countertop
  4. Glue the pink end of the cupboard door to its place
  5. The countertop does not have a base/ bottom as it sits better that way.
