DIY Dollhouse furniture for the living room
Lately I have been flicking through images after images on Pinterest and interior magazines to decide on the living room style for my Ikea Flisat dollhouse.
To be honest the living room has been somewhat overwhelming to tackle.
There are so many ways, styles and dollhouse furniture to choose from!
So where do I start…???
I decided to first design one wall and a fireplace as it’s much easier to come up with other dollhouse furniture ideas when a wall is done.
[Fireplace: Which design do you like best?]
As much as I love pattern and cheerful colours in abundance, I decided to opt for neutral tones in the living room to go with the black kitchen as I want the interior of the whole house to tie in when it’s all done.
I came up with several designs for the fireplace then chose three out of those:
1. Marble (pictured above)
2. Grey classic (pictured below)
3. Blue tiles (pictured below grey)
I don’t have a fireplace at home but if I am to get one (a real one), I have always thought that I would choose marble without hesitation.
However – a favourite design doesn’t necessarily mean it will work with anything.

I did a post on instagram and asked the followers to vote out of the three designs.
To my surprise, grey classic had the biggest vote with marble coming second.
One of my instagram followers pointed out that the marble design looks too wishy washy against the plain neutral wall and it fades into the background, which was a great point that I hadn’t thought of!
I assumed that marble will be a straight winner, so this was a pleasant surprise.
